The Central Square Central School District is accepting applications for the 2026/2027 school year for a School Business Administrator/School Business Official.
Position Class Definition: 12-month position
Job Description:
The School Business Administrator/School Business Official, under the direction of the Superintendent of Schools, will lead and manage business operations of the district including but not limited to service and maintenance/buildings and grounds, transportation, food service, budget development and control, data processing, financial affairs, investments, accounting, payroll, purchasing, grants and the administration of contracts and other fiscal services in such a manner as to maximize the impact of District resources in support of the District's program and facilities. The successful candidate will interpret various school business programs to staff, parents and the community. The employee will perform related work as required.
Job Functions:
- Supervises maintenance of financial accounts and various records related to the business management of the school district
- Assists in development of fiscal policy
- Oversees the requisitioning and purchasing of all equipment and supplies while serving as purchasing agent
- Prepares and issues periodic local, state and federal financial and statistical reports for the Superintendent of Schools and Board of Education
- Supervises the work of clerical, custodial, maintenance, nurses, transportation, food service and supervisory staff
- Plans and directs construction or renovation projects
- Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of the school budget for submission by the Superintendent to the Board of Education
- Substantiates budget estimates with supporting data, and assists with promoting annual budget to the public
- Manages district insurance programs
- Develops maintains and applies office management practices related to personnel, data processing and recordkeeping
- May coordinate or oversee the annual audit of the school district
- May make periodic inspections of buildings and grounds to ensure they are maintained per regulations
- May coordinate the operation of school cafeterias, buildings and grounds, maintenance and custodial and transportation activities
- May oversee and coordinate all human resource functions including employee benefit administration
- Serves as School Safety Officer
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
School Business Administrator:
Masters degree in education, business management or accounting. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in one of the above fields, including at least one year of experience in a supervisory capacity. New York State School District Business Leader Certification is required.
School Business Official:
Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a master's degree in accounting, finance or business administration or a closely related field and five (5) years of business administration or professional accounting experience. CPA preferred.
